Warranty

About This Warranty

At Great Gadget Store, we take care to inspect and test the second-hand electronics we sell before they are dispatched to customers.

Unless otherwise stated on the individual product listing, products purchased from us are covered by our 3-month limited warranty from the date of delivery.

This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

Nothing in this warranty is intended to exclude or restrict any rights or remedies that you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer legislation.

What Our Warranty Covers

Subject to the exclusions below, our warranty covers faults or failures that occur during the warranty period where the product:

  • develops a technical fault during normal use
  • stops functioning as it should
  • fails to perform the functions described in the product listing
  • develops a hardware fault that was not disclosed in the product description
  • requires repair because of a fault covered by this warranty

Where appropriate, we may ask you to provide photographs, videos or other information to help us diagnose the problem before arranging a return.

Second-Hand Condition

All products sold by Great Gadget Store are second-hand, refurbished, used or previously owned unless the product listing specifically states otherwise.

As a result, products may show signs of previous use, including:

  • scratches
  • marks
  • dents
  • cosmetic wear
  • discolouration
  • battery wear
  • other age-related deterioration

Cosmetic condition that was clearly described or shown in the product listing is not considered a warranty fault.

Where a product has a known defect, limitation or missing feature, this will be stated in the product listing where relevant.

Battery Condition

Rechargeable batteries are consumable components and naturally lose capacity through use and age.

Unless a specific battery capacity or condition is stated in the product listing, normal reduction in battery capacity due to age or previous use is not, by itself, considered a warranty fault.

However, a battery that is defective, unsafe, swollen, leaking or otherwise presents a safety concern should not be used. Please contact us immediately if you experience such a problem.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by:

  • accidental damage
  • drops, impacts or crushing
  • liquid or moisture damage
  • misuse or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions
  • neglect
  • unauthorised repairs or modifications
  • attempted repairs by a third party
  • physical damage caused after delivery
  • use of unsuitable accessories, chargers, power supplies or components
  • normal cosmetic wear and tear
  • normal battery degradation
  • damage caused by improper installation or setup
  • damage caused by viruses, malware or third-party software, where applicable
  • any defect or condition that was specifically disclosed to you before purchase

This does not affect your statutory rights where the issue existed at the time of sale or where applicable consumer law provides a remedy.

Making a Warranty Claim

If you believe your product has developed a fault, please contact:

Email: [CUSTOMER SERVICE EMAIL]

Please provide:

  1. Your order number
  2. Your name and contact details
  3. The product name/model
  4. A description of the fault
  5. When the fault first occurred and
  6. Photographs or video of the fault where reasonably requested

We may ask you to carry out reasonable troubleshooting steps before requesting that the product is returned.

If we require the product to be returned for inspection, we will provide appropriate return instructions.

Inspection and Diagnosis

Returned products may be inspected and tested to determine the cause of the reported problem.

If the fault is covered by this warranty, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory rights and this warranty.

Where a repair or replacement is appropriate, we will carry this out within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you.

Where required by applicable consumer law, we will bear the necessary reasonable costs associated with an appropriate repair or replacement.

Repair

Where reasonably possible, we may repair a faulty product rather than replace it.

A repair may involve replacing a faulty component with:

  • a new component;
  • an equivalent component; or
  • a suitable refurbished or tested component.

Any replacement component will be appropriate for restoring the product to working order.

If a repair is impossible or disproportionate, another appropriate remedy may be offered in accordance with your statutory rights.

Replacement

If a product cannot reasonably be repaired, we may offer a replacement with the same model or, where appropriate, an equivalent product.

Because our products are second-hand, an exact replacement may not always be available.

Where an equivalent replacement is offered, we will explain the proposed replacement before proceeding.

If a suitable replacement cannot be provided, another remedy may be available under your statutory rights.

Refunds and Your Statutory Rights

This warranty does not replace your statutory rights.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, consumers may have rights including repair, replacement, price reduction or rejection of goods where the legal requirements are met.

For example, consumers have a short-term right to reject goods that do not conform to the contract, subject to the applicable legal requirements and time limits.

The existence of this warranty does not prevent you from exercising any statutory right that may apply to your purchase.

Faults Reported Shortly After Delivery

If you receive your order and believe that the product is faulty, damaged or does not match its description, please contact us as soon as possible.

This warranty does not replace any rights you may have to reject goods or obtain another remedy under applicable consumer law.

If an item has been damaged during delivery, please contact us promptly so that we can investigate the issue with the delivery provider.

Products Sold as Faulty or for Parts

Products specifically advertised as:

  • faulty
  • defective
  • for repair
  • for parts
  • spares or repairs
  • non-working
  • otherwise unsuitable for normal use

will have their condition clearly described in the product listing.

You should carefully read the listing before purchasing such products.

A defect that was clearly disclosed before purchase will not normally constitute a defect for which you can subsequently claim under this warranty.

This does not affect any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Accessories

Where accessories are supplied with a product, such as:

  • chargers
  • cables
  • power supplies
  • cases
  • controllers
  • adapters
  • other accessories

their condition and inclusion will be stated in the product listing where relevant.

Unless otherwise stated, accessories supplied with second-hand products may themselves be previously used.

Data and Personal Information

Before returning an electronic device, you should, where possible:

  • back up your personal data
  • remove personal accounts
  • remove passwords and security locks
  • perform a factory reset where appropriate

Great Gadget Store is not responsible for personal data left on a returned device.

We may need to access and test the device solely to diagnose and repair the reported fault.

Shipping and Returns Under This Warranty

Where we require a product to be returned because of a fault covered by this warranty, we will provide reasonable instructions for returning the product.

Where applicable under consumer law, we will bear necessary reasonable costs associated with dealing with a valid fault.

We will not require a customer to pay unreasonable costs in order to exercise their statutory rights.

Warranty Period

The warranty period is:

3 months from the date of delivery.

The warranty applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

The expiry of this commercial warranty does not mean that your statutory consumer rights automatically expire.

Your statutory rights are separate from this warranty.

No Exclusion of Statutory Rights

Nothing in this warranty is intended to exclude, restrict or limit any legal right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

If any provision of this warranty is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be treated as modified or removed to the extent necessary, without affecting the remaining provisions.

Governing Law

This warranty and any dispute arising from it shall be governed by the laws applicable in the relevant part of the United Kingdom, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
